I think this experiment only did only an alright job at demonstrating the clean up of an oil spill because the scale was so off that if you were to use any of the techniques in a real oil spill situation it would not be effective.  This is because these items for the most part would be very unwieldy on a large scale or do not exist.  However our hypothesis was supported and we controlled the controllable variables and everything went as expected.  The item that we thought were going to work such as the spoon did work but the vinegar and baking soda that we thought was going to work better did not do anything.  The cotton balls that we did not think would do a good job at absorbing the oil indeed did do a good job.  All in all the experiment was a  success.
