English Web Quest.

In the article called “Fishing the Forgotten River in the Nationals Capitol” they explained about the issues going on in this river in Washington D.C.  The river is unbelievably polluted and yet people still fish in it even though advisories have been issued that eating the fish from the river could cause cancer and other diseases.  The people who tend to fish in the river tend to be lower class or poverty level people and just want food. 

The solution?  I think that unless you make a very strong law against fishing in the river you are never going to get people to refrain from fishing in the river.  The only other option would be to clean up the river. As they stated in the article though, that could take decades.  If you were going to make a law against fishing in the river you would have to have proof that eating the fish from the river does cause cancer and that is something that the authorities don’t have.  The proof however is in the fish.  As stated in the article the fish have shown to have tumors in there livers and well as having visible legions on their bodies.  All in all there is no clear solution but action must be taken some way or another.
