Hypothesis
If diffusion and osmosis across a semi permeable membrane are related to the substance the membrane is submerged in, then the membrane submerged in water will get bigger because of osmosis into the egg.
If diffusion and osmosis across a semi permeable membrane are related to the substance the membrane is submerged in, then the membrane submerged in molasses will get smaller because there is less water in the molasses that there is inside the egg membrane.
The independent variable is the substance that the egg is placed in. In this case, molasses or colored water.
The dependent variable is the effect that will occur on the egg.
The controlled variables are the substance that the egg is placed in, the brand of egg, temperature, containers that the eggs are placed in, type of egg, and amount of time that the eggs are placed in the substances.
